Your First Visit

Your first visit to see the osteopath will last up to 45 minutes to allow you plenty of time to discuss your problem. Your medical history, lifestyle and general well-being, are factors to be considered.

You will normally be asked to remove some of your clothes so that a detailed physical examination can take place – this may include an assessment of your spine, your posture and the way you move. The osteopath may also take your blood pressure and test your reflexes. You may want to bring some loose clothing or shorts with you.

Following an initial diagnosis the osteopath will explain in detail what has gone wrong, the treatment required and how long your recovery is likely to take. If other types of treatment are necessary you will be referred to the most appropriate source.

Follow-up sessions are normally of shorter duration, and would be arranged to suit your work or domestic convenience.

Any questions you have about your condition or treatment will be answered as fully as possible.
